Strength Override Strategy

Posted by: Admin | Comments (0)

Many Nanovors have attacks that provide you swarm with an override. These overrides can include Spikes, Speed, Strength, Armor, and other things. We will go over the strength override and how exactly it works so you can decide if its a worthwhile override for you to use in battle.

First we want to explain exactly what an override is and how it affects the game. Overrides are provided from certain attacks and they get displayed in the circle under your avatar in battle. The override will stay in play and active until it is either replaced with a different override ( only one override may be in play at a time ) or it is used up ( spikes disappear after used up ). Other than the spike override which usually adds an effect to an attack, the rest of the overrides provide a bonus of some sort to your swarm of nanovors. The strength override provides a bonus to the strength stat to whatever nanovor is active.

You first need to realise that the damage done to the opponent nanovor is NOT equal to your strength and it is NOT increased equally when your strength increases from an override. There is a basic formula used for determining the amount of damage that an attack does. “Base Damage Amount X ( Strength/100 )= Amount of actual damage attack will do “. Each attack has its own different base damage amount. But as you can see by the formula, raising your strength only increases the damage minimally.

For example…… lets say an attack has a base damage of 40 and your strength is 100. Plug these into the formula ” 40 X ( 100/100 ) = 40 X ( 1 ) = 40 damage”. Lets see what would happen if you were to use a strength override that gave +10 STR ….. “40 X (110/100 ) = 40 X 1.1 = 44 damage. So your nanovor would do 4 more damage per attack that you had this override. ( assuming the nanovors strength stayed the same and their attacks were the same base damage as well )

So is this a worthwhile override? Lets average it all out. A +10 STR override attack usually costs 3 energy. A regular damaging attack that costs 3 energy does between 50-65 damage average. So to play the override, your giving up say 58 damage on average. In most battles, swarms have either 4 or 5 nanovors. I would also say that on average a nanovor lives about 3 turns. So if we played this override with our first nanovor on his second turn, he would get one use out of it and the other nanovor would get 3 uses each. ( on average ) so 4 more nanovors ( max ) at 3 times each is 12 plus the first nanovors one use is 13. And using the example above, an average of 4 extra damage each attack, times the 13 total uses is 52 damage. This is extra damage that the override allowed us to inflict over the course of the whole battle.

So using our quick rough estimates, you would get more damage by just using the same energy to inflict a regular damaging attack, than using the energy on a STR override. Of course there are different variables that could effect the usefulness of the override, such as the base damage of the attacks ( the higher the base damage, the more bonus damage your gonna get each round with a STR override ). Experiment yourself and see what you think. We would like to hear your thoughts.
